It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Zakiy Robertson, who tragically lost his life on Wednesday night, May 22, 2024, at the age of 19. Zakiy was the victim of a senseless act of violence during a shooting at a Citgo gas station on North Avenue in Milwaukee. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Zakiy was a bright and creative soul who had a passion for art and music. Known for his warm spirit and infectious smile, he brought light to those around him even in difficult times. He was especially gifted in singing, and his artistic talent was evident to all who knew him.
More than just his talents, Zakiy was a young man full of dreams and potential. He had recently expressed his desire to return to school to pursue a career as a barber—a path he hoped would allow him to connect with people and bring confidence to others through his work.
He was a beloved son, a cherished family member, and a friend to many. Mentors and loved ones remember Zakiy for his determination, kindness, and the deep care he showed for others.
Zakiy’s life was cut far too short, and the community grieves this immense loss. As investigations continue, we remember Zakiy not for the tragedy of his passing, but for the joy and promise he brought during his time with us.
