Devin Bernard Thomson, age 30, of Wartburg, Ontario, passed away peacefully with his family by his side at LHSC – Victoria Hospital on May 21, 2025. His passing leaves a deep void in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. Though his time on earth was far too short, Devin made a lasting impact with his generous spirit, boundless love, and ever-present smile.
Born to James and Mary (White) Thomson, Devin was a beloved son, a devoted brother, a cherished grandson, and a loyal friend. He shared a close and unbreakable bond with his sister, Deanne Thomson, and her partner, Jamie Moeser. Their connection was rooted in love, laughter, and lifelong memories that will now be treasured even more dearly.
Devin’s love extended beyond his human relationships — his best four-legged companion, Dixie, was a constant source of joy and comfort in his life. Their bond was undeniable, and Dixie never left Devin’s side, bringing him peace and companionship during even the most difficult days.
Devin was the treasured grandson of Grandma Joanne Godden and is now reunited in spirit with his grandparents, John and Mildred Thomson; Bernard and Shirley White; and Grandpa Gerry Godden. Though the pain of his absence is overwhelming, the family finds comfort in knowing he is surrounded by love on both sides of eternity.
Devin also leaves behind a wide circle of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who will remember him for the love and light he brought into their lives. To know Devin was to know true kindness.
He had a heart that gave without question and a presence that made people feel safe, supported, and seen. His family recalls how he always put others before himself — a quality that defined every relationship he had.
Those closest to Devin often speak of his smile — one that could light up a room and uplift the heaviest of hearts. His sense of humor, warm hugs, and natural ability to make others feel special were just a few of the many qualities that made him so beloved.
Whether he was spending quiet time with family or helping someone through a difficult moment, Devin gave his full self — his time, attention, and compassion — freely and selflessly.
Though his journey was not without its challenges, Devin faced every obstacle with quiet courage and unwavering grace. He was a great man in every sense of the word — not because of any titles or accolades, but because of how he lived his life: with integrity, loyalty, and love.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Devin’s life during visitation on Monday, May 26, 2025, from 2:00–4:00 p.m. and again from 6:00–8:00 p.m. at W. G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford, ON.
A funeral service will be held in his honor on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Second St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wartburg, located at 4802 Line 42, Sebringville, ON.
As Devin’s loved ones prepare to lay him to rest, they do so with heavy hearts and an unshakable love. His memory will live on in their stories, their laughter, and in every act of kindness inspired by the way he lived his life. He truly was one of a kind — a beacon of love in a sometimes difficult world.
Rest in peace, Devin. You were deeply loved, and you will be missed beyond measure.
